Aurora Rising By Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

This dragon LOVES science fiction! Transport yourself to the future! This tale takes place in 2380, and the graduating students of Aurora Academy are being assigned their first missions. Star pupil—Tyler Jones—hopes to recruit the squad of his dreams, but ends up with a rag-tag group of misfits. His team of sarcastic, and often odd, squad isn’t even his biggest problem! Aurora O’Malley—the girl he rescued from interdimensional space—just woke after sleeping for two centuries. (I’ve taken some epic naps. Once I slept for two weeks on a pile of rubies and sliver, but to span centuries? My stomach would rumble something fierce.)

Is Aurora the catalyst which will “start a war millions of years in the making?” Faced with the “faceless” GIA and creatures like the terrifying creature Ultrasaurs of Abraaxis IV—which this dragon learned are a species regarded as the most hostile species in the history of the Milky Way—Tyler’s squad of misunderstood geniuses, discipline-cases, and oddballs might just be the last hope for the entire galaxy. Told in the seven voices of the team members, this is a light, fun, YA novel overflowing with humor. For those who love cheery, amusing, and upbeat stories can certainly sink their claws into this tale!
